Honoring 90 Years of Grace, Leadership, and Service
The Rotary Club of Atlanta West End proudly celebrates a remarkable milestone: the 90th birthday of our beloved and trailblazing member, Ms. Frances Ellison-Dansby, born October 5, 1935.
A dedicated educator, Ms. Frances began shaping young minds as a Science Teacher at Booker T. Washington High School in the 1950s. She continued her teaching journey at Lena Jean Campbell Elementary School on Pride Street in the early 1960s. Her passion for education and community upliftment has been a lifelong calling.
Beyond the classroom, Ms. Frances has served faithfully at St. Paul of the Cross Roman Catholic Church on Harwell Street, by serving as President of the Music Ministry and on the Parish Pastoral Council as Chair of the Education/Formation Commission. Her faith and leadership extend across both spiritual and civic realms.
Ms. Frances became a member of our club on November 1, 1992, bringing with her the Rotary classification Family & Children Policy Administration, a fitting reflection of her professional commitment to social equity and community well-being. She brought her values to every Rotary initiative she touched, exemplifying Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self.”
In the 2000–2001 Rotary year, Ms. Frances made history as the first African American woman to serve as President of a Rotary Club in District 6900. And she did it again, serving a second term as Club President in 2010–2011. Her steadfast leadership and trailblazing spirit have inspired generations of Rotarians, both within our club and beyond.
Ms. Frances is also a Paul Harris Fellow, a distinction that recognizes her significant contributions to the mission and values of Rotary International.
Now, as she celebrates 90 extraordinary years, we offer our heartfelt gratitude for her enduring spirit, deep wisdom, and powerful example of compassionate leadership.
Happy 90th Birthday, Ms. Frances! You are a treasured pillar of our club, our community, and the broader Rotary family. May your special day be filled with joy, music, fellowship, and the same radiant light you’ve shared so generously with the world.
With admiration and love,
Your Rotary Family at Atlanta West End
