At our weekly meetings, Rotary of Atlanta West End raises funds for three important health-related causes. Members empty their pockets and pocketbooks to fill the C.A.R.T bucket, supporting the Coins for Alzheimer's Research Trust.
A weekly game of Tasse Trivia, named in memory of a former member, fines members $1 for every wrong answer. Club members compete to deliver the most outlandish or hilarious wrong answers in order to raise funds for "our favorite charity", Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home which provides palliative care to cancer patients in Atlanta.
In honor of our weekly speakers, a donation is made to Polio Plus, Rotary International's decades-long, world-wide focused effort to eradicate polio from the planet. Donations are matched by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Thanks to this effort, polio cases worldwide have decreased by over 99% since 1988, and its complete eradication is down to three countries: Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Nigeria. In 2019, Rotary of Atlanta West End sponsored a Polio Day event at the Centers for Disease Control along with other Rotarians from District 6900.
