Relief Efforts for Flooded South Carolinians

What District 6900 Is Doing. How You Can Help.

District 6900 Rotarians,

By now you’ve seen all the news reports, likely heard from friends in the area, and also seen communication regarding our District’s plans to help our neighbors in South Carolina. We are continuing to monitor the needs in that State, and we have been successful in identifying items needed for on-going support and cleanup efforts.

The District will be assisting in two ways:

  1. Utilizing our own “District 6900 Charity Fund,” a 501(c)(3) to collect financial contributions which will then be sent to Harvest Hope Food Bank at the recommendation of PRID Anne, who lives in Columbia, SC. Checks may be sent to District Governor Bob Hagan at 995 Canton Street, Suite 100 Roswell, GA 30075. Please give what you can.
  2. The District 6900 Disaster Relief Collection Drive (Oct. 23 – Nov. 13)

The District 6900 Disaster Relief Collection Drive Details:

Beginning this week through November 13th, Rotarians may donate items needed in South Carolina at various drop off sites throughout our District. Those sites and times are listed below along with the very specific things requested by our contacts in South Carolina. I cannot stress this enough—please DO NOT donate items that are not included in the list below. It is very important that we send them exactly what they are requesting!

November 13th will be our FINAL day to collect these items for this relief effort. Thereafter, members of the District Disaster Response Team will be visiting each location to collect the goods and consolidate them. Chris Brand has offered his resources at FODAC to serve as our shipping station where the donated items will be packaged up and made ready for shipment. We plan on making delivery to South Carolina the following week.

IF you would like to be a part of the Logistics Team and assist in either picking up the items from the donation sites and delivering them to FODAC or if you would like to be a part of the Delivery Team to South Carolina, please contact Jon Whitmer at 404-234-8064.
